Capacity Building Workshop are short training workshops delivered at local hospitals to create greater awareness about palliative care among health care providers. These workshop introduce participants to the basic skills and knowledge in the field of palliative care.
Working with a local facilitator (physician or nurse), the workshops are tailored to the learning needs of the facility staff. Workshops can be designed specifically for physicians, nurses, or community health workers. In some cases the workshops are more general and suitable for all health care professionals (nurses, physicians, social workers, pharmacists and others).
The goal of these workshops is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required for the provision of basic palliative care, including pain and symptom management, spiritual and psychosocial support, and communication for both children and adults with life-threatening illnesses.
